Okay, the methods mention in this guide are a lil unorthodox, but it works. At least that’s how I reached 100k+ downloads on my podcast (The SEO Singh Show).
Before we get into this, check out my last youtube video on “How To Start A Podcast?” if you don’t have a podcast yet.
Back to marketing a podcast. Let’s first talk about
Marketing It On Podcast Platforms
Apple Podcast:
Get more reviews. Duh, very obvious. But seriously, go mad about reviews. Saw someone holding an iPhone, snatch it, and put a review.
Share Apple Link more: I once sent a huge number of clicks from Instagram stories to apple links and saw my podcast in the Top 5 marketing podcast for a month in India. (It varies from country to country).
Podcast Art and Description: Yes, a lot of podcast listeners come to the podcast by seeing the art and description and then make a decision if it’s worth listening to the podcast or not.

Spotify:
If it’s android listeners, give Spotify a link and insist on following you on Spotify.
Playlist Strategy: Create a playlist of all the amazing podcasts in one niche. Let’s say I created a huge list of all the amazing podcasts on “Content Writing.” Not just mine but even from other creators.
Start promoting that list and even approach other creators to do so. The more listeners you get to that playlist, the higher it will be when people search for “Content Writing music or Content Writer, etc.” on Spotify.
Create few lists like that and approach influencers in your industry to tweet it out. People love sharing resources in their industry.
Other Platforms: Distribute your podcast on as many podcast submission sites as you can find. You never know where the listener might come from.
Let’s talk paid ads.
After running a few campaigns through all paid media channels, I concluded that only profitable ads are the ones that are done on other platforms.
It’s about getting in front of people who already are podcast listeners. You can also do a shoutout exchange with another creator.
Off Platform Listeners-
Google:
Guest Posts - Create a list-type post like “10 Best SEO podcasts for 2021” and put yourself in the 3rd or 4th position. Submit the post on the websites that accepts guest posts. You can even do a paid listing. Then, promote the same on multiple social media channels.
Number Of Searches: Consider guests with a low number of SERP results where you can see only their website and their social profiles. This gives your podcast a better chance to rank on SERP.
(I once interviewed a girl who later went on a reality show, and that episode got 8k downloads just in a month)
Influencer Marketing: Ask your guest if there are some questions they would like to add to the list of questions for the podcast. Also, politely request them to share the same with either their email list or a shoutout on social media.
Social Media Marketing: Create an audiogram for 1 minute and choose the best minute of the podcast and share the same on social media with subtitles. Give the link to listen to the full episode in profile or comments.
Video Marketing: Consider making a video podcast once you feel confident. In front of the camera. Instead of audiograms, you can cut 1 minute or smaller videos with subtitles for reels, TikTok, Instagram, Linkedin, and Twitter.
Podcast Notes:
Use podcast notes to create smaller content like LinkedIn posts, Twitter threads, newsletters, etc.

Reddit: Share the post notes in the subreddit and put a plug in the end. Something like for more tips like these, do listen to my podcast.

Do the same thing on quora as Reddit in answers. Share your answers in the correct spaces.
Answer questions by indirectly promoting your podcast. (, If the question is about learning SEO, then write an answer like “Here are 5 podcasts I listen to which keep improving my SEO skills.”.
Run the paid ads on that answer till it gets a lot of views and upvotes.
That answer will keep giving you returns as it will stay as the top answer on that question.
