Want to create a legendary blog?
When it comes to rank a blog and holding on to the attention of the users, here are my top 10 tips to the lookout before publishing a blog post.
(In future newsletters, I will be going one by one deep into all these topics)
1. Competition - Keywords
Always check out the top 5 ranking blogs on the keyword you are trying to rank and your domain authority vs. Theirs. If you have a new site, try going for low searched keywords and build your way up.
The below table will give you an idea of what kind of search volume you should target for.
Example: If your website is getting 50-100 clicks through google, then go for keywords that get 50-100 monthly searches. Keep leveling up once you keep getting more clicks.
2. EAT of competition-
See the author and author bio of the top-ranking blogs. If they are written/reviewed by expertise, then you too probably need to do the same.
3. Headings - (H1)
Just the basic headline with keywords won’t cut it. Experiment with your headings. Use tricks like (Updated Review) or (Explained!) to steal clicks from top results. Always experiment with different headings and see which one is getting you more clicks.

4. Subheadings
Have more H2/H3’s in a long blog but also make it so witty. It will not only help you with passage ranking but also will help in holding the attention of skimmers and scrollers. This also gives you a chance to rank in featured snippets.
5. In-depth Blog.
While doing research, check out the top 6 blogs ranking on those keywords and make sure your blog is the most in-depth blog on that topic. Again, not the longest but the most informative. Yes, there are a lot of tools out there that can help you do the same.
6. Opportunity to add or convert answers into Pointers/numbers.
Pointers and bullet points are known to hold the attention of the end-users. If you can explain something in bullet points, then avoid using paragraphs there.
7. Bolded Sentences.
If it’s something important to the reader, bold it out.
8. Images/infographics/Memes/ GIF/ Animations.
Visual marketing is the future of SEO. Use memes, images (unique images), gifs, or whatever is required to explain the point you are making in few seconds.
9. FAQ opportunities.
Go on Quora, people also ask a section of google or any other available tools to create a FAQ section related to your blog.
Pro tip: Schema markup to get featured in PAA.
10. Google Trends and Exploding keywords.
Always checkout the future trends around the blog topics. Somethings hardly anyone is talking about.
