Recently this old video of Shahrukh Khan is going viral.
After seeing this, my wife asked me a question I couldn’t stop thinking about.
“Are we doing something wrong by maintaining the balance?”
We both live a balanced life, starting with meditation, workouts, Separate work, reading, empty-minded walks, and family time.
She meant, “Should we lose the balance and achieve things faster?”
Everyone knows the Top 5-10 Richest in the world or India, but what about the 37th or 89th richest?
Maybe that person is much happier than the 1st? or has better mental and physical health.
They maybe have time to run with their kids in their backyard or have the liberty to do nothing that day but stare at the world around them.
“To measure the quality of your life, simply do nothing, and see how it feels” - Naval Ravikant.
Maybe we don’t need to be the Shahrukh in our field.
Some people desire to be one and should lose all kinds of balance.
But for the rest of us, maybe we should try to be a happier, calmer, and purpose-driven version of ourselves.
That is what will define our success.
P.S.- I believe that even Shahrukh won’t agree with this statement of his in the current times. He talks about a world where social media and sitting jobs didn’t exist. By meditating and working out, we are barely balancing things out.
I like the idea of work life harmony more than work life balance. I personally like to be so obsessed about life and work that I blur it such an extent that work feels like life and life feels like work. It's probably too idealistic of me. But, I'm hoping to gain more clarity on how I can achieve this with time and experience.
